Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is a security system that verifies a user’s identity by requiring multiple credentials. So rather than just requiring a username and password to log on, MFA requires additional credentials such as, a code from the user’s smartphone, a security question answer, a fingerprint, or facial recognition.
Traditional usernames and passwords can be hacked, stolen (or inadvertently given away) and MFA creates multiple layers of security to ensure that the user who is requesting access, is actually who they claim to be. With MFA, even if your username and password are compromised, it’s useless without other information.
MFA is a really effective way to provide enhanced security for any organisation, as well as protect assets, data and comply with GDPR.
